takes me back to my youth. You really capture the spirit of such places. ---- but I have to stick up for the mountain: mountains are not treacherous. If they pretended to be lawns, that would be treacherous. But they don't. They openly admit to being big lumps of rock covered in ice. There are no treacherous mountains only careless people.

You are right in what you are saying.
But I guess the more accurate way of putting it is that the mountains appear treacherous based on my own skill level in trekking such or similar mountains, so it is more a subjective point of view.
No mountain is treacherous if you have the needed skills to traverse them, but even so, sometimes something might surprise even the most seasoned mountaineer and accidents happen, so in my world view mountains can be both safe and treacherous at the same time.
