Thank you very much.
Thats the thing, it is kind unpredictable with the sunspots and all, but from late september and early october is usualy when it starts and ends in march.
My suggestion is mid november - mid december or january - end of february.
To be sure to see the aurora I would suggest going far up north, you have the standard route many takes up to the North cape which will increase your odds of seeing the aurora many many times, but anything above Bodø in norway is pretty much alright.

I think this is great work. I especially love the unexpected elements you account for...the tide going out in one scene for instance. I noticed a number of satellites, or planes, or something (the space station maybe?) going through the shots, and I am wondering if you have been able to identify these, or if you intentionally planned your observing/filming to capture them. I especially like the really bright one that occurs around :59--this one you seemed to time with a cymbal rush in the music--very effective!

Thank you so much.
Yeah I did a soft sync to the music and let the elements in the clips go with the music instead of force syncing it which I only did for 2 clips.
That one at :59 I knew I had to that part of the song.
Actually the song I knew I wanted long before I even started with the film, I contacted Ryan Farish mid-way through it and asked, back up plan was me composing something on the guitar, but that would mean a whole different kind of editing.

(: And Ofc I get alittle jealous I live to far down south in Sweden so I barely get any northern lights at all

Trichardsen In reply to Kattenshatt [2012-12-05 04:55:26 +0000 UTC]
yeah I can understand that, but thats the thing too, once you do get to see them they are often really really powerful.
I know a guy made this aurora time-lapse over Oslo, and the northern lights was just insane beyond belief, so yeah you might not see it all the time, but those times you do its usualy the really good ones.

Yeah, only time I got to see it was when I was on vacation further up north in Sweden so (: But it's really breathtaking. I wish I could travel and see the nature up north again and to see more auroras ofc.

Trichardsen In reply to Kattenshatt [2012-12-05 17:11:34 +0000 UTC]
Auroras and a camera just belongs together.
You luckily do not have to travel as far as many others on this site to see the aurora, but in between work, school and any other activities its not always as easy to find time to do so.

Yes, and you manage to capture it amazingly C:
I guess, but yeah time is always the problem.. Traveling takes to much time. And ofc money. haha. I want I new camera and stuff so can't really afford the trip. ( poor student xD ). But Oh well. I'll just have to wait some years I guess :3
