2of7 - One week in landscapes

The second day of the week, just a touch more colorful and brighter but still much may seem to be in shadow.
Early "rain" of the week might feel like having no end, but a faint glow lets you know it just has.

This is a Tuesday to me.
Hope you like it.

Check out the rest of the week

Dear Trichardsen,

that is a very stunning photograph, yet in a subtle, quiet way, not an overwhelmingly "loud" one. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

The colour palette is muted, but because of that, the attention of the viewer rests more on the contrast of light and shadow than on a variety of colours and shades. It draws attention to the outlines of those rocks and your picture composition!

Those lone trees on the rocks look like sentinels. Keeping watch over the landscape and greeting travellers on their journey. They also seem to be waiting for you, the photographer, and by extension the audience as well, to move forward and pass through the gap between those rocks. In contrast, the zig zag line of the stream flows towards the viewer, making for an interesting diametric opposite. The stream has already passed through the land the viewer is about to step into. What stories does it have to tell? What could be waiting on that mountain visible through the gap?

The light putting the mountain peak in sharp relief against the sky and the white then trailing off into a misty grey-blue/blue-grey sky gives the scene a mystical and dreamlike atmosphere. It puts the audience (at least it did me e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=" (Wink)"/>) into a thoughtful contemplative mood.

Also beautiful is the dichotomy between the simple and calm feel of the misty, but otherwise undotted, cloudless sky (and its simple colour gradient) and the texture of those rocks and brownish muted greens of the landscape, especially in the foreground. The sky seems calm and serene, but the rocks look uncomfortable to walk on and daunting, lest you might slip on the wet stone. If you want to move forward, you'll have to make an effort and tread carefully. It won't be a walk in the park. And yet you can't help but want to brave that journey, for the zig zag line of the stream makes you wonder where it came from and where following it could lead you.

Long story short: You chose a wonderful spot for taking your photograph and just the right moment to capture the atmosphere of that scene! The muted colour palette and your image processing add to that feeling and make for an overall beautiful shot! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

P.S.: The idea for a series of photographs named after the days of the week and what they symbolize for you is a very creative and inspired one. Bonus points for that! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

Thank you very much for your kind words, much appreciated.
This picture is to me Tuesday, it is how Tuesdays feels.
That day, early in the week, like a Monday with a touch more hope , less chaotic, but still enough to keep you on the edge, life can throw some resistance at you,but there is still some light in the tunnel for you to follow.

I really like your take on this image and it is up to each one to interpret the image for themselves, thank you again for this critique.

You're most welcome!

And your description of what Tuesdays feel like to you is something that I can subscribe to. It makes absolute sense when looking at the etymology of the name for that weekday.

Did you know that Tuesday is named after Tyr, the god of single combat, law and justice in Norse mythology?

He was the patron of the Thing, the gathering of clansmen in Norse culture were war council and trials were held.

Given that the way we structure our weeks with the weekend and the weekdays is an age old constant in our culture, it makes absolute sense for these days to still hold similar meanings in modern life with struggle and resistance yet also possible resolution (the council coming to an agreement) to be associated with Tuesday, the Day of the Thing or the Day of Tyr, specifically.

This is cold-looking image without any blues. And the trees enhance this feeling. Great shot!

Many thanks

Yeah, there is barely any blue colors in this, I had to work a little with the hue to get this effect and make this proper feel like Tuesday.

A small, not so easy to find place a bit northwest from Tromsø.

Makes me think of tribesmen on a hunt or children out exploring their aunt's countryside on vacation, out rambling. Nice pic.
