Great work! I used to to soft cell shading just doing it like cell shading and then using a blur too.

You know, just the bases look pretty good. I'm not sure what you mean by "soft" cell shading, but I do think cell shading would be best on this pic. Clean, stark color contrasts work really well with the lineart.
