Any tips for those of us new to drawing and are practicing and working hard so we can be like you when we grow up hehe... I just picked up a pencil and started drawing, I want to improve though and I dont want to keep practicing any bad habits I might have, so I keep looking for inspiration and information from other really good artists that clearly are lacking in the bad habit department lol
I love the shading, the attention to the tiniest detail... the realism. Its amazing... It took me about 10 hours to do my SW sith photo and its nothing compared to this. Im just super impressed. Great job

Hi there Sorry for not getting back to you this morning - had to rush off to work
Anyways, back now and I've just had a quick glance at some of your drawings. You've certainly got a promising talent; your likenesses are great, all I'd say(and it's the best advice I was given when I was starting out) is to increase your depth of tone. Getting the shading as dark as you dare and where it's needed on the picture really helps to increase the quality and realness of a drawing. Also good quality paper really helps too. I use a smooth surface cartridge paper; it costs around Β£4 for a 25 sheet pad, so it's not that expensive and it's much easier to work on and helps with shading too. I mainly use a 2B for the majority of my work, but a softer pencil such as a 6B or 8B is excellent for shading in areas such as skin and really easy to blend too with some tissue or a cotton bud. As for bad habits - believe me I have plenty! Being a tad too heavy handed when I'm drawing for one thing! Hope some of that has helped a little, if you'd like to know more, I'd be glad to try and lend a hand. Tatty bye for now

Uugh, that whole real world work thing is always getting in the way.
I appreciate you taking time to look at my work... I have been working on the depth thing a lot. My general compared to my fett is much more detailed and depthy (yeah I just made up a word lol)but I feel stuck on how to get past my current block. I get to a certain point and stare at it going... what can I do to add dimension to this. I hate getting stuck.
Im working on a couple pieces right now, a dragon and Lightning from Final Fantasy xiii. I will try out what you mentioned, I will break out my 8b pencils, maybe my charcoals... see how dark I can get those dark spots.
Thank you lots and lots for all the suggestions, if you dont mind when I get close to being done with one of the drawings I would love to share it with you, get your opinion... when you have time of course. Thank you much!

Again, no probs. It's always a pleasure to try and help. I know how much the advice I was given meant to me when I was starting out. And of course you can send me the links to your new drawings, I'm looking forward to seeing them
