Gazing around you finally locked eyes with Loki. He was sparking your interest, there was more behind the facade he was pulling. You knew that his emerald green eyes held a depth no one was expecting. But you could see it clearly, without much effort. It felt like you could see down to his very soul. After a while the trickster raised his voice.
"She choose me." He said, not caring about the suprised looks he got. He felt a sudden connection with you. Oddly none of the Avengers protested, Natasha however took a sharp breath.
"It that what you want, (Y/N)?" She asked and looked you over. You nodded shyly and hesitantly walked over to Loki, carefully though to keep some distance.
"My brother will take care of Lady (Y/N)!" Thor boomed and you fliched, bumping into your mischievious comanion. "Stay calm." Loki whispered into your ear and as you stiffened at the contact with his body, he took a step back to leave you some space. After everything you had heard about him you foud his caring behavior unusual. Then again, the only information you got came from the Black Widow who weren´t really fond of the god of mischief.
Trying to calm yourself you closed your eyes, blending out what was around you. Loud noises disturbed you, even more than being near anyone or actual skin contact. It reminded you of the beatings you recieved all those years long, how they would scream at you and the screams ripped from your own throath.
"They are gone." You opened your eyes to find indeed everyone gone except Loki who stood cLose to you and Natasha who glared at the trickster.
"If this is one of your games you will regeret it." The redhead stated, earing a smirk from Loki, before she turned to you. Her expression went soft as she locked eyes with you and there was no denying that she was worried. But Natasha respected your decision. You weren´t one to trust the wrong people.
"I hope you know what you are doing, (Y/N). I am in the kitchen if you need me." With that she left but not without glaring at Loki one more time.
You looked over at the trickster, your eyes urging him to explain his motives (you were pretty sure he had some) but he just shrugged while his smirk somehow turned into a smile.
You felt strangely compforted by his expression and decided to leave the questions for later. You had no idea what urged you but you found yourself reaching out for his hand, needing something to hold on. Without a change in his demanor Loki interwined his slender fingers with yours, bringing you closer with a tug of his hand.
With a glance down he made sure that you were still compfortable and you rewarded his actions with a little smile.
"Thank you." You finally raised your voice and you could swear you saw Loki blush. But before you could get a clear look on his face he started walking, carefully dragging you with him. After you got over your initial suprise you felt in step beside him, noting that he made little staps to match your step.
While he gave you a little tour around the important places of the tower he avoided the others, wich told you that he wasn´t normally acting like he did with you. It intigured you and made you wonder what had happend to him. You knew that one bocken soul could see another, that Loki had a understanding for you the others didn´t.
Walking around soon made you tired. You still hadn´t fully healed from the years you had been tortured and a yawn escaped your mouth. Loki stopped as he noticed the state you were in.
"I will show you your room then." He stated and turned to the elevator, you following suit, curious about how his floor would look like.
On the other hand, what you found wasn´t really a suprise. The colours of the walls were all different shades of green, the furniture mostly black and golden details all over the place. After spending years in a dark cell you found it really beautiful here.
You hadn´t really expected Loki to put this much affort in his midgardian residence. Silently you promised yourself to stop expecting thinks of him just because Natasha told you so. Loki was his own person and somehow you had trust towards him you couldn´t really explain.
You looked over to the trickster who still held your hand and noticed the distant expression on his face. His mind was in another world and somehow you could tell that it wasn´t a peasant one.

Whatever he went trough had scarred him, that much you could see in his beautiful, haunted, green eyes. It was puzzeling you how the others were not able to see what you saw.
With a sigh on you lips your eyes wandered down to your hand, still interwined with Lokis.
You knew that he needed comfort as much as you, so you hesitantly tugged him closer, bringing one hand up to Lokis cheek.
His mind snapped back into the here and now, his eyes locking with yours.
"I'm here."
It was a promise, it's meaning only understandable by yourself and the man you gave this vow to.
Your thumb carefully caressed Lokis cheek and he leaned into the touch.

"You are the first one looking at me without suspect."
His silky voice eventually interrupted the silence.
At his words your expression softened.
"You have been nothing than kind to me. I see no reason in treating you any differently."
And actually you had realized something else, too.
"I trust you. You're different from that monsters I've been with."

Your words must've hit a sore spot because Loki suddenly tensed.
He took a step away from you and his expression turned cold.
"Monsters, huh?"
Your hand awkwardly fell to your side and your eyes mirrored confusion.
"Loki?"
"I'm nothing better than them. I'm a monster, too. I killed people in cold blood. I'm an hideous creature."
He took another step back, bringing distance between you and him.
"Stop talking nonsense."
You told him and went to take a step towards him.
"STAY BACK!"
Loki suddenly burst out and you flinched back at the noise, your legst slightly trembling.
"I'm a creature from nightmares. A disgrace to my FAMILY."
His eyebrows furrowed he started to change. His skin developed a blue colour, markings forming on his face. You felt the temperature drop by quite some degrees and goosebumps appeared on your skin.
As you searched Lokis face for awnsers you gasped, realizing that his eyes were no longer the emerald you knew. Instead they were a ruby red, still beautiful gemstones.
"SEE THAT? I AM A MONSTER! A HEARTLESS CREATURE, VILE AND HIDEOUS!"
His screaming made you remember all the pain. You knew that a breakdown wasn't what you needed right now but you couldn't help it. Fearfully you covered your ears with your hands and whimpered, sinking down on your knees.
Tears gathered in the corners of your eyes and eventually spilled over your face.

Within a second you were back in your cell, yells mixing with your screams.
You begged them to stop, to have mercy with you. You cried your pain out but it only was entertainment for your tormentors.You started shaking, caught up in your memories.

Loki stopped his rage-fit as he heard your whimpering. He felt assured in his words as he watched you crying. But he noticed that you covered your ears and suddenly remembered how you panicked at Thors loud voice.
He covered his mouth with a hand as realization hit him. Loud noises frightend you! And he had just screamed at you mindlessly.
The blue of his skin slowly faded as he carefully walked towards you, kneeling down to your level.

A slender hand on your shoulder startled you but as your teary eyes detected Loki you calmed down a little. His touch had freeed you from the abyss you were sinking into.
The trickster awkwardly cleared his throat.
"I'm sorry." He nearly whispered, seemingly afraid to scare you any further.
You smiled at him but the still flowing tears didn't help to reassured him that you did not blame him.
"It's alright. You didn't knew."
You explained and hiccuped.
"Oh, my dear." Loki sighed and carefully drew you into a hug.
Encircled by his arms you relaxed and rested your forehead against his chest, listening to his heartbeat, not yet able to stop crying. Your past still haunted you but Lokis touch anchored you, keeping your mind from drifting away. You hugged him back, your hands laying on his shoulderblades.

"You're not a monster, Loki. Your past doesn't concern me. You are taking care of me and I'm thankful for that. I know you've been hurt, too. With you I feel safe.
Just… please, don't yell at me again."
You could feel how Loki nodded.
"I promise."
You two sat in silence for a while until you finally stopped crying.
Loki pulled away from you and cupped your face drying your left over tears off with his thumbs.
"You should go to bed and rest." He advised and earned a nod from you. You felt drained from the day and a bed sounded like heaven.
Loki got up from the ground, his hands traveling to your waist to lift you up with him.

With still slightly trembling hands you held onto him. You never actually thought that you would ever be able to hold a man this close but Lokis presence had your doubts slowly vanishing.
He looked down at you with a caring expression and slowly leads you over to your room, explaining where you could find everything.
He leans against the doorframe and watch you observe until you finally come to sit on your bed.
"Then I bid you a good night, my lady."
He tells you and a little giggle escapes your mouth.
At that Loki smiles and closed the door behind him, leaving you alone.
Exhausted from the day you sink onto your back, your heavy eyelids soon giving in.
You can't help but feel excited for the next day as sleep takes over.
