Description
Fanart - Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - The Slippery SlopeGood Lord, this has to be the most controversial scene of the series. Did they kiss ? Did they just hold hands ? Did they unite the various laws of modern Physics into a single revolutionary theory ? Did Violet tried to commit suicide jumping off the cliff because she tried to have hallucinations about her ex-boyfriend even though it was clear that her subconscious made that up and that her self-destructive actions looked even more stupid than they already were ? Oooops, sorry, I forgot. I'm talking about literature. Not Twicrap.
Anyway, my point was that I didn't want to draw a kiss, since the whole development of the thing was supposed to be left ambiguous. Either it's what happened before/after the scene or the scene itslef, it's left up to your opinion.
Ooooh, backgrounds ! The more I get to know you, the more hate I feel. Oh, don't thank. I know the feeling's entirely reciprocated. And I actually managed to draw a non-monstruous Violet this time ! I love that look on her face : "ahah, he's mine, aaaall mine ! And you fangirls never had a chance !"

I really liked this drawing and the role idea in it, there were just some problems in the anatomy, but you can work with some practice. Congratulations!

Thank you ! I should try to work in higher formats, it usually helps spotting the anatomy errors.

Though i am not a fan of this pairing myself (i like Violet with someone elles X3) good job!
I love how you leave the question in your drawing still hanging because it let's us fill in the blanks like with the book.
I love how you drew Violet! this is the most different and unique version of her i have seen and i like it! It's more creative like Violet ^^

QUIGLET 8D I has drawn them too ^^
I agree with you completely on backgrounds >< usually I avoid them like the plague and put some random color in the backgroun instead ><;;;;;
I'm not sure they kissed either. However I thought it was really annoying that Snicket gave them "private time" so I was like, "what the heck are they doing?"
Seems to me, they look a bit old to be in the fourteen-year-old range, especially Quigley. Maybe making their faces soften and their shoulders less broad would help? Also Quigley's lips seem a little bit low on his face. Also seems like their hands could use a little work. But I love the detail in the icey slope (though it seems like it could be tamed a little) and I also love how you drew Violet's poncho.
And you put her in pants 8D I don't think she actually was wearing pants in that scene (seems to me she was still in the hospital gown from book 8 though Snicket forgot about that :/ ) but it's nice to see her not in a dress. ^^

Well that's constructive critiscm. Thanks ! XD
I dunno about their age... When I compare them to the way I draw adults, they look slightly younger. Helquist draws them very young (Violet is as tall as Olaf's tigh O_0) so I tend to go to the opposite extreme, maybe ?
Quigley's face is an error, anyway. I didn't realize it but I kept the nose and lips I gave him when he still faced the camera in the early scrap. I'll see if I can correct that digitally. Also I can't draw hands, so let's face it. Didn't David say you can tell an artist's competence by the way he draws hands ? Yikes. -_-
As far as I'm concerned, I assumed Violet still had her regular clothes under her hospital gown (it wasn't a real surgery anyway so Olaf didn't really care). Helquist draws her with her regular clothes in the frontispiece of TSS. Or did she steal those pants from Colette at Caligari Carnival ? I don't know.
I've always pictured Violet as a pants-enthusiast. She's a mecanician, for a start, and if she can't stand to have her hair blocking her eyesight I suppose she can't stand dresses getting stuck in doors and reducing movement either. ^^

I give constructive criticism a lot ^^ Not all the time, but a lot. XD You're welcome ^^
They do look younger than adults, thing is they look like they're more like sixteen... :/
I always go opposite extremes too ^^ I try to fix something and end up with the opposite problem XD
Hands are tough ^^ they really are. But what I really can't stand is feet ><;;;
Oh God, Violet's dress in the movie ;_; entirely opposite to her character. Impractical in every way TT__TT
