Description The word 'Drake' is sort of an arcane term for a dragon. Lately, I've ran with that idea, using Drake to descrive a humanoid/dragon variant. Among other things, this lets me put a fun twist on the old trope of dragons-abducting-Humans!

Of course, there are plenty of other dragon-related tropes out there. In modern fiction, dragons are often color-coded. Only slightly less frequently, they're also given powers other than fire-breathing. With these two tropes also in mind, allow me to present my four different Drake-variants:

Starting on the right, the Fire Drake. They're red or reddish, and they breath fire. Pretty straight forward. This particular Fire Drake is cooking--or at least just singeing--a turkey.

Moving on, we have the blue Ice Drake, whose breath ranges from cool and minty to arctic storm--with the ability to freeze things instantly! This individual is using--or abusing--his power to have some fun with the tavern wench he picked up.

And then there's the slightly mis-named Slime Drake. The special breath of these Drakes comes laden with spores, which, when they land a surface, sprout into a fast-growing mossy--or slimey--fern-like plant. This moss can be used to smother things, and its roots will dig into any soft substance--flesh, wood, weak masonry--to weaken or peel off the outer layers. Or it can be used the way this young lady is using it, just to cozy up the lair.

And lastly, there is the Dust Drake. Whose breath works like a sandblaster. Used here to cut through a solid rock outcropping.

Where's the rainbow drake?

Heh, I like the slime drake. That's quite an effective breath she has. Sounds like it'd be nasty if used as an attack. It's hard to see, but the human she has looks like he's a little concerned that she's "bedding down" with him.

She seems like the popular one. Gunna have to start using that in drawings...

Yeah, its hard to do expressions at this scale. The Human could be concerned--about that claw on his chest. Or he could be enjoying the armrests. I'll let you interpret!

"Drakaina" was the term used by the greeks to describe Female Half-human Half-Dragons! (slides Wikipedia under the table)

Really? Oh, well, that's great! Very conveniant! And it makes me feel a whole lot less funny about the whole Drake=male duck thing.
