Description
Well, I've been at this account for a year now. I've posted a lot of art in that time, but there have also been a lot of works that didn't get posted. Sketches that just didn't turn out good enough. Concepts that never quite worked. And some pieces that just managed to slip through the cracks. Well, with a year under the belt, it seemed like a good time to look back and survey some of the works that didn't make the cut the first time around. An old colored drawing that just...never got posted. Becuase it was intended as a gag-picture, but it was a gag-pic that was play on a premise in my head, but it was also the first pic to set up that premise...Basically, the explanation would have been so long-winded that it would have smothered the joke. And since I never did any other drawings of the premise, this pic just languished in my gallery.
The scene is of Carina the giant insect-eating naga, using an unfortunate neko as a bait to lure giant scorpions into a clearing where she could pounce on them. Alas, the neko has lured a giant carpenter ant rather than a giant scorpion. Disapointing to the naga, but still enough to panic the neko...

Maybe if the guy was drawn standing up with some kind of weapon, and then add more ants so he looks cornered. It'd change the story a little bit but the picture would stand up by itself more, it could be like "Saved ... ?"

Well, you don't always catch exactly what you're hunting for. Guess she'll have to make do with an ant snack rather than a succulent scorption. That ant is awfully near that neko, and even nearer to the wrapping around her. Carina likes to cut things close, consideing how fast insects can move! The gag may not have come across the way you'd liked, but it's still a good picture and a neat way for a naga to hunt.
I like the way you've given her serpentine body weight - the way it's sagging down from the tree she's slithered over. That's something you don't see often in snake/naga drawings.

Yes, but snakes are known for thier speed and reflexes, too. I'm sure the neko is perfectly safe...
Glad you like the tail! But...You don't see dynamic tails very often? That seems odd. Seems like playing with the serpentine body is half the fun of having a naga character! ...Or am I missing the point?

For the naga that doesn't want to use a lot of effort... Thanks!
