Description
Oh look, it's Hannes on the height of his career. In a pond. With jellyfish skin. I couldn't forget, and neither should you.
everyone else, this is Tim's DnD character, warlock Hannes, an absolute and incorrectible mess. Let's all pray he survives tomorrow's session. But however it goes, i will always appreciate my good, goood nephew. i love him.
For my skill level it might be a bit crazy to go for two see-through things at once, skin and water, but i regret nothing.
Looking for some advice on colour balance, water colour handling or construction of a picture, as well as proportions of the face.

I see a watercolor piece and I come running! This is such a fun piece! I love all the details and especially the way you use watercolors. You have such nice transparent areas and you’ve efficiently used the see through effect of the colors to create illusion of water. All the little details are adorable and I really like the earth toned color palette, it perfectly suits the watery mood.
When it comes to handling watercolors I think there only issue I spot here is the hair. The color itself looks nice and I can’t say it throws the picture off balance, but the hair appears too dark and thick. With watercolors it’s often more beneficial to use hue instead of color thickness when painting dark areas. For instance – blue toned brown would appear darker than warm brown even if they were the same level of darkness. So instead of adding many layers of colors, rather add colder hues to make the hair appear darker. This also prevents the watercolors coming too thick on the paper.
The facial anatomy I think you have mainly nailed down. The face just lacks shadows that would help build structure and shape. For instance now the nose kinda gets lost in all the details and the dark areas on top (or behind?) it makes it appear like the nose was too far on the left. I suppose you were going for a skull like structure underneath his skin? I would suggest rather paint the face first and shade it with color and only last add the light, darker layer for the skull details. Now the skull details kinda get lost on the skin. Also remember to add shading to the white of the eyes.
All in all – great piece! I really like the looseness of it and the textures.

Ok, once more- thanks for the comment!
Yes, the hair and skin are definitely an issue. Since my colours *can* be opaque, i am often tempted to use them that way. But for the benefit of the picture, i should develop some restraint. :,D
The skin details were such an issue, oh gosh. I couldn't make up my mind on what to focus- shade, luminance, veins, skull, ?? I still want to show everything. But that's a nice suggestion, I shall try when i next get into this dilemma.

Gray combined with the skin tones often ends up looking dirty - so perhaps try purple the next time :3
It would look darker and nicely set the skull parts apart from the skin.
