what is rendering? Is it when you take an already existing image (like stock images or something) and you make changes to it? Or did you do everything yourself? Just asking, cuz I don't know what rendering is?

Rendering is like what you said; taking an already existing image and making changes to it. However, with rendering, it is just normally taking out the background of an image to make the character the only thing left.
