Description Character name: Trinity

Type: Superheroine

Alter ego: Brit, Brittany Writer, Brittany Fox

Powers:
-Three times the strength, speed, and stamina of a peak athlete including a top speed of 90 MPH and an ability to leap impressive distances. Her Emerald Aura (see below) can magnify any of these powers, but at a cost of reducing its effectiveness on defense.

-"Emerald Aura"- a ghostly aura that resists most mundane damage and provides immunity to toxins as well as a limited ability to heal Trinity and anyone else she spreads the aura to. This will purify the target and will undo the effects of drugs, toxins, poisons, possession, mind control, and even technological "impurities" like nanobots. Basically the aura seeks out any "taint" in the target and can, will time, burn it away or force it out. The aura can detect the presence of "taint" in anyone it touches. It cannot repair significant physical damage, it can only cleanse the wound and enable the victim's body to heal more easily on it's own. The aura can also augment Trinity's other powers temporarily.

-She sometimes carries a Multi-Launcher capable of discharging directed electricity that can stun an opponent or can be switched to deploy jets of knockout gas. It also has a grapple attachment and can work like an airgun to fire versions of Trinity's hand-held bombs.

-Utility Belt containing homing devices and a detector, Mini Stun Gun, Knockout Gas Bombs, Ultrasonic Bombs, EMP Grenades, Flashbang Grenades, and a grappler for the Multi-Launcher.

-She often wears Tazerlets, wristsbands that can discharge either a stunning jolt of electricity akin to a Tazer or a cloud of knockout gas for safe subdual of the bad guys.

-She wears an enchanted locket that carries her costume. When she powers up, it detects that and stores her civilian clothes, replacing them with her costume. She has to manually trigger it to change back into her civvies.

-Training in unarmed combat, espionage techniques, and meditation. In particular, her martial arts skills are quite advanced.

-Alter-Ego- the fact that there are three souls within this one body, and three minds, makes Trinity essentially immune to mind control and gives her an incredible amount of willpower. To some extent, this effect operates all the time, even when not in Trinity mode, though her willpower is much less as just Brit and she is often more vulnerable to more subtle forms of manipulation.

Weaknesses:
-Aura does not block damage from cold-wrought iron (normal iron or iron alloys are less effective).

-Aura has limited effectiveness versus magical effects. Depending on the type of effect, her aura may offer some protection still, or none at all. In particular, curses and magical methods of poisoning or possession still do not function, but more direct effect such as magical energy-based attacks work fairly well, and magical matter-based attacks, such as webs or magic weapons are almost unaffected by the aura.

-Powers must be summoned-summoning requires her to touch her birthmark (on her left breast) and speak aloud the word "Trinity".

-Powers last one hour before requiring re-summon. They do not, however, grow weaker as the time limit expires, they are at full strength until they shut off completely. She wears a tiny electronic timer on her belt that beeps at the five minute, two minute, and one minute mark.

-Code vs. Killing and Death- She will not allow anyone to die by either her action or inaction- this means if you have a hostage and Trinity does not think that she can stop you from killing that hostage, she may well be made to surrender.

Origin Note:
-Trinity's powers come from the fact that her body is occupied by two ghostly spirits, one is ancient evil, the other is a relative. The ancient evil is constantly trying to escape and take over Trinity's conscious control and can be detected and interacted with by telepaths. It also typically intercedes on mind-control attempts, and will try to "infect" the minds of the invading telepath.

Background: The second woman to bear the powers (and the curse) of Trinity in modern times, Brit is a formidable heroine. The previous Trinity was Brit's grandmother, Elizabeth "Bettie" Writer, and she was active from World War II through the early eighties. In World War II, she helped defend the Pacific Theater from supernatural menaces sent by the Axis powers as well as some more traditional supervillains. Upon Bettie's death in 1985, Brit inherited the Trinity powers, which always pass to the oldest living female of the bloodline (assuming a pure enough soul to contain the demon, that is). At that time, Brit began her career as Trinity, and Bettie was the third part of the Trinity, and taught Brit a great deal about what it means to be a heroine, as well as giving Brit the benefit of Bettie's vast experience as a heroine. Brit was part of a secret metahuman task force during this time and continued to be a successful heroine with them and on her own until the mid 1990's when things went very badly for her.

In an effort to save a powerful monstrous metahuman who was trying to rebel from his evil master, Trinity was forced to kill that evil master, the first time she had ever killed anyone, and it caused enough corruption to her soul that the demon trapped for so long inside her finally escaped. It used Brit's body, went on a terrible rampage, killing several close friends of Brit, including her partner, mentor, and lover at the time, and Brit's older sister, Anne, a villain known as Toxic, who gave her life trying to help the city's other heroes stop the demon's rampage. The demon was driven back, but at the cost of Bettie's immortal soul, and Brit appeared to lose her powers for good, the Trinity of souls broken. Trinity went into retirement and eventually Brit found herself caring for her deceased sister's abandoned daughter, herself a metahuman of some significant power, but lacking control. Brit devoted her time to training her niece, who went on to become a successful heroine in her own right. However some ten years after Brit lost her powers, Brit's niece found herself a prisoner of one of Trinity's deadliest foes in his effort to force Trinity to reveal herself, so Brit geared up one last time, thinking herself bereft of her Trinity powers, but determined to save her niece or die trying. During the encounter Brit reflexively tried to call up her powers, and to her surprise, they returned. And that was enough to tip the scales in her favor, defeat the villain, and save her protege.

This began a renewed career for Trinity, this time side by side with her former trainee, and now sidekick, handling a wide range of metahuman menace, from a tyrannical Pacific Island nation-state's evil metahuman enforcers, to all manner of supernatural entities, with plenty of traditional costumed villains for good measure. She also spent some time, shortly after her return, as the leader of a "Suicide Squad" like secret operation, working black ops for the government, which ultimately resulted in a full pardon for her actions when the demon had taken control ten years prior. Now in full possession of a presidential pardon, she is again on her own as a heroine, fighting the good fight with Golden Age values.
