Description Shot at Judge Magney State Park today... my mom and I decided to go for a hike...not the best walking conditions because it was all icy and we both slipped. But I needed a little exercise for the day!

Infrared shot, adjusted in channel mixer.

genius picture...that's a very nice place despite of hating being in a icy place...well i had a bad experience with snow that's all. despite of that i know how to appreciate a good work

I really like this one a lot... it's so otherworldly and dreamy. Once again you did a great job with the color, and the shot itself is pretty much perfectly framed. I'm not sure where you found such an interesting landscape, but good call on photographing it.

I love this IR shot. Been planning to do the same on my 20D. Lenses do seem to be an extraordinary issue though ... not sure i want to buy specific lenses for IR work, or go to the extent of having my 20D IR-modified (when i replace it in a few months with the 5D-replacement, fingers crossed).

I'm unsure why you're getting grief about film Vs digital - cameras are all just light-proof boxes anyway ... i understand why people sometimes frown on digital, as i used to be a bit the same way, but i got over myself. Knowledge is all well and good (and i'm sure you have plenty of that), but all the knowledge in the world will not make a good photograph. Hell, i have plenty of "knowledge", but i'd rather look at your photographs than mine. You did great.

I can understand that it is much more expensive doing film, I was talking to someone about it once, and apparently the film is very expensive, and it's probably a little more difficult to edit the way you want it to (tone wise) in the darkroom than it is to edit it in photoshop.
Glad you like it though, thanks for your comments

Agreed. I really just meant that your shot was not of less value because you shot in digital. Just because something is harder, or more expensive, does not make it superior ... it bothered me that the implication made was such, when clearly you are good at what you do regardless of medium.

Hey, IR on a digital is cheating it. You have to suffer like the rest of us and do it with film and hope you don't fuck up an expensive roll of film; than you gotta hope you have at least a decent image.

it is a good shot, but the suffering makes IR far more entertaining and worthwhile.

yea i know wat u mean about the waiting to see if the shots were good til you develop film, and stuff... but hey, if there are new things to use and make life easier, why not take advantage of them? would you rather edit an html file with javascript and upload it to the dA sever... or just click on reply, type, and click on send?

I'm sorry, the way I've been trained at my school is to know the basic techniques so you can have a firm respect for the shorter ways.

Really nice IR, just a question, what lens did you used?, I have the 18-55 but it makes a crappy hot-spot when I put the IR filter...
