Description
Breaking in my new cool grays Copic Marker set. Skin was done in Prismacolor Warm Gray markers. I also bought a Red Copic when I got the grays.I added some blue and pink colored pencil to the face at the end to breathe some life into it as she was looking very ghostly next to that very vibrant red hair.

Great work on that one! I'm thinking about getting started with Copics Markers. What colour would you advise me to start with? Also, can I use watercolour paper with those markers? If not what type of paper do you recommend?

I highly recommend starting with either a cool gray set or a warm gray set, then build to both. From there you can really make a variety of work, then build some colors into the set. That is what I am doing and it's perfect. When you start adding color go for the less saturated colors. The bright colors are way too saturated up against the gray sets. The desaturated colors work very well with them.
As far as the paper is concerned the watercolor will suck the ink out of those markers very quickly. That is similar to the paper I started with and my markers went dry after 2 or 3 drawings. I recommend a smooth illustration paper like bristol smooth or the kind I'm using which is just called "Illustration Paper" and works perfectly for markers. Blends well, doesn't bleed through, and doesn't take a lot of ink.
Thank you so much !

They're worth it. I've been buying 2-5 markers a week for the past 3-4 weeks depending on my paycheck. No regrets.
Try the Copic Ciao versions. I bought a couple as substitutes for some of the shades the store didn't have in the Sketch versions. They're cheaper and I'm finding they work very similar if not the same. They hold slightly less ink, but Copics are refillable.

Beautiful work! I am curious how you blended the blue and the pink colored pencil into the face to give it that skin tone?

No worries! I figured as much after I looked at the picture a bit longer. I'm amazed how you got it to look like a skin tone with using gray markers! I thought you had added the pink to the hands and such too, but after reading your comment + looking at the picture again I saw it was only in the cheeks. That's awesome!

Oh, now I see it! Sorry, guess my eye for detail isn't as great as I thought it was, lol.
Any chances that you'll do more Disney Princess marker drawings?

I'm certain of it... they're too much fun. Always another one to draw so coming up with ideas is easy peasy.

Thank you! The entire face was colored with warm gray markers. I added a cool gray marker into the shadows. Afterward she looked ghostly so I took a pink colored pencil and lightly colored over the cheeks and nose.
