I think there is some argument over whether he really was the patron god of fire. We know surprisingly little about his place in the original pantheon.

I'll be honest, I found this while looking for pictures of the version of Loki in the Avengers, but this is really stunning. I think this is more what Loki would really look like.

In my head Loki is always a quite normal looking but sharp guy with bright-green eyes and dark red hair that reaches to about his shoulders. Not as adorable as some people draw him but not extremely violent either.
