Description
Learning from the master
Featuring:
CH Tartarus with Hunter Volos
CH Krikun with Catherine Volos
(See #15 on the map)
Catherine scrubbed one hand down her face, having just put her son down for his nap. She was scheduled to go work with Krikun and it seemed like her days were completely surrounded by toddlers... both the human and equine sorts.
A loud shriek met her ears as she unlatched the doors to the stallion barn and she shook her head. It was a good thing she was planning on on walking him around on the grounds today; her energy levels weren’t there for her to attempt to back him just yet.
“Hey hey, enough with the ruckus,” she called out, glancing over at one of the stable hands and shrugging apologetically at them. “Is he ready?”
”Yes, Mrs.,” came the amused reply and she smiled gratefully. Usually she tacked her own horses but with the new routine, she was grateful for the staffs’ eagerness to assist.
Making her way down the isle, her gaze flickered over Tartarus’ empty stall, a frown touching her lips. Huh... where could he be. Putting it out of her mind, Cat entered the first wash stall and cooed at the noisy chestnut stallion, offering him a mint as she stroked over his glossy coat lightly. “You ready to go explore?”
Krikun snorted at his human momma, ears flickering forward as her familiar voice soothed his anxious mind.
“Yea, I figured you were.” Swinging his reins over his head, she urged him forward and led him out of the barn into the cooling autumn air. “Let’s go check out the dressage arena, yea?”
Catherine glanced back as the stallion barn was locked behind them before leading her Zlesdin out towards the private ring, steps faltering only slightly when she spotted her husband working his prized Cypress Warmblood in the ring. Of course.
”Hunter! I thought Tarn had the day off,” she called, even as she led her young charge into the ring, staying towards the edge to stay out of Tartarus’ way.
“He did but then I saw your schedule. Figured it’d be good exposure for Krikun,” came the lazy response and she resisted rolling her eyes.
Her body tensed and she braced herself as Krikun suddenly halted, large brown eyes focused on the older stallion in what appeared to be wonder.
“Yea, you’re going to be doing that one day—“ she began before laughing as a loud, excited squeal escaped the chestnut.
Tartarus wasn’t fazed, simply snorting as he continued his routine. He obviously had no time for young riffraff.
(See the private dressage ring and entry to the stallion barn without horses!)
Kinda crappy story, sorry, half asleep but really wanted to get this posted. It was loads of fun working on showing this new view of CH and having two of my favorite stallions together in one shot!

You always create such lovely 'everyday life' scenes from around your beautiful stable - this is certainly no exception! I love this - Senior and Junior in one picture

Thank you!! It's just so relaxing... and it's great practice for drawing architecture without the stress of a show

Man, I love how natural this looks - each of their poses so fluid and real. Krikun better soak up all he can from the Cypress star!
