In 1999, the much-revitalized American LaFrance came out with a plainer, less expensive entry-level custom fire apparatus called the Metropolitan. Like its fancier big brother, the Eagle, the new Metropolitan was available in two cab sizes, with or without a raised cab roof. The latest Metropolitan has no chrome parts in the design of the front mask. The chassis can be in 2- and 3 axle variant, and only pump trucks are produced on this chassis. The Metropolitan is equipped with Cummins ISL engine with a capacity of 370-400 hp and Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission.
