Story Then: Spyke was a short lived member of the X-Men. While he believed in the mutant cause and made some good friends on the team, he did not take the training aspect of being an X-Man seriously.
After a contaminated sports drink forced his power to grow out of his control, Spyke began to live with the sewer-dwelling Morlocks effectively quitting the team. He still acted as an avenger for oppressed and hated mutants.
Story Now: Spyke is tracked down by S.H.E.I.L.D. agent, Buzz Mason, to be part of a new government sponsored mutant team, X-Works. Residing now in Skull Mesa, Arizona, Spike is the field leader of the team.
With the aid of the mutant Tanaka (Medic), Spyke can now control his mutations again.
