Well i see the logic of it, but i learned perfectly fine while using oven mitts and other forms of protection, I sometime got burnt but of course; It was either because the tray was so hot that oven mitt did nothing, or I just wasn't paying enough attention.

It's sort of strange but i guess different cultures have different methods of teaching.

I think it's because like ~leonmathews say or because when all water have been evaporate completely leaving no waters behaind and that happen and you should not ask that you should PUT OUT THAT FIRE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe you were boiling the water with oil on it, so... that the maybe it caught on fire
