Description
These designs were originally unrelated but they had enough of a resemblance for a little tweak to turn them into one line (thanks to waterpoke for the suggestion).------------------------
Derivation: A pun on the term sporadic
Classification: Fungus Spore Pokemon
Abilities: Effect Spore, Aftermath
Sporeaddic use their spines to cling onto larger Pokemon while they remain unnoticed and spread to different locations; because of this, their evolution line is a hardy breed and can be found in many different locations. Although their spines are usually velcro-like and prickly, Sporeaddic can harden them into spikes at will to become a defensive ball of spines.
-----------------------
Derivation: Fungi + Guard, a pun on Engarde
Classification: Armoured Fungus Pokemon
Abilities: Effect Spore, Aftermath
Funguard's caps are as hard as shields and when combined with their spike protrusions make them almost immune to attacks from wild bird Pokemon. Where regular mushrooms have polka dots, on Funguard these have developed into sharp spikes that the Pokemon uses to defend itself; they love to travel long distances and challenge many different foes, so the blades have muliple applications.
:bulltblue: Mushido
-----------------------
Derivation: Mushroom & Bushido
Classification: Fungus Warrior Pokemon
Abilities: Effect Spore, Aftermath
TBA
Potential Moves: Spore, Absorb, Poison Powder, Cotton Spore, Mega Drain, Giga Drain, Leaf Blade, Bullet Seed, Spiky Shield, Stun Spore, Slash, Night Slash, Cut, King's Shield, Bullet Punch, Iron Head, Rollout, Iron Defense

lol then at least it has some attraction there are a lot of mushroom lines already so I wanted something a bit different; since mushrooms breed with spores, it made sense for an initial evo
Thanks so much for the kind words, it means a lot to me getting a shape for mushido was tough (what WOULD a walking mushroom look like?!) but I couldn't shake the image of mushroom armour and I do love eastern-themed designs

Yeah mushroom lines are really difficult in my opinion... similar to cocoon PokΓ©mon it's difficult to balance originality with actual biology and "real world" appearances.
About a decade ago I made a mushroom Fakemon simply called Mushy and it literally was a plain white mushroom with legs and a smiley face... oh I long for the simpler days hahaΒ
I love love love the mushroom armour in combination with the eastern theme ~ it works so beautifully well together and is the perfect look for the final stage. Β Does the basic stage tie in to an eastern theme at all?

Ah, cocoons are another tough one for me, too! Luckily so far, I've not been too bad at making them, but it often takes a lot of head-scratching since in nature, mostly they're similar shapes anyway
Hahah I think a lot of people start off with the basic mushroom on legs though look at Goombas in Mario - they can have their charm too!
Thank you Plus, I'd imagine they spread around quite a lot of spores when they're hit... attack and defense all in one
as for the basic stage, the reference is a little vague, since combining it with something but still keeping a spore look is a little tough but maybe in the future I can improve on it:

Argh you're making me wanna try my hand at a mushroom Fakemon now
That's actually a really cool combination with the makibishi spikes, allows you to at least tie the design in and make it flow sensibly
Thanks for the info

go for it
Thanks, it can probably be overlooked really but at least it gives something for people to find when they analyze it

I will
Yeah it's fun to have things to study and work out in Fakemon designs... is also fun to build up a design to leave hints and clues haha

I like to try and add little things in that could be missed, either in the design or dex entries. Things like animals with certain mythologies to them are great for that!

They are indeed ~ plus it's great to be able to show in the design itself how much work you've put in, makes it that wee bit more special imo

Nice! It's getting a third evolution possibly found in a different region other than Rae and Eson. I'm liking this Mushido guy should be fun.

Heheh I always intended it to have a third design, I could just never pin the shape down until recently (making an original mushroom is damn tough!)

ryulover19 [2014-01-03 04:35:05 +0000 UTC]
We just need a mushroom with katanas and a samurai headdress now!
I can see them being very loyal to their trainers and surprisingly good at gardening, poetry, and art. I think this might be a bit morbid...but like in the Bushido code they would commit suicide if they fail....yeah.

Trueform In reply to ryulover19 [2014-01-03 10:08:19 +0000 UTC]
Well there's the pokedex description in a nutshell right there
You're definitely in the right ballpark for the kind of design I'm thinking of. the main problem is defining the shape as being larger and a little more humanoid without being too human andrawing away from the link to the previous evolution. Should be an interesting challenge!
