Description
This is just a colored version of the Undertale AU Huntertale I made up.
This Au happens after the Pacifist Route, however the barrier failed to break. The failure to break the barrier ended up doing something different instead. The souls of monsters that were all killed by Chara/ Frisk were returned to the living world. No one understands why but are relieved it happened. Those who were returned do not remember much but that is what happens when a soul transitions from the dead to the living, and vice versa.
    It is revealed to the monsters that the war between them and the humans was started by demons that possessed powerful human leaders and began the whole struggle. Demons find pleasure in the pain of others and the mass murder that occurs in war help them to steal away souls to either torment further or consume.

    Demons come in two classes: post-human and post-monster. For a human or monster to become a demon, they are driven mad from the constant haunting or a demon that their soul becomes corrupt or they willing allow a demon to take their soul but exchange it for demonic abilities and power, resisting mortal offenses. Post-monster demons can possess monsters and post-human demons can do the same with humans. Though that does not stop demons from haunting and tormenting people even if they can’t possess them.

    Chara is an example of a post-human demon. She gave up her soul to live longer and have supernatural abilities in hopes to stay with her new monster family longer, since humans do not live as long as monsters. However, without a soul demons feel no remorse or care for others, hence why Chara forced Frisk’s hand to kill so many while still wearing that creepy smile.

    However there is a way to eliminate a demon. Weapons impregnated with either human determination of monster magic can inflict enough harm to destroy a demon. Post-human demons can only be destroyed with monster magic weapons and determination weapons can only destroy post-monster demons.

    After the failure on breaking the barrier, demons began running wildly in the underground. They began to kill innocents; Mettaton was a victim of a demonic possession and died as a result. Frisk (now free of Chara’s hold), Sans and Papyrus have taken the roles of Demon Hunters. Sans has taken the most physical damage out of the three of them, mainly because puts himself between Frisk of his brother and the immanent danger. Frisk is the most knowledgeable about demon behavior since one possessed her. The death of Mettaton greatly effected Papyrus on an emotional level that he became silent and calmly focused. He got rid of his Battle Body since it reminded him too much of Mettaton. Even Sans jokes don’t affect him like they used to. Papyrus has resorted to drinking and smoking for comfort. Sans is concerned with this but tends to get angry when Papyrus doesn’t listen. Thankfully Frisk is able to say the right words that keep Paps from going too far.

    The three of them go across the Underground answering calls from clients about demonic activity. They do get paid for their work (hey, how else are they going to make money?) Each of them have two weapons, one with determination and the other magical. When there is nothing going on, they are home in Snowdin.
