It's called a PenPad from VisTablet. It's pretty cheap, but it works.

oh and you might find what i did to learn how to draw on my tablet interesting. first i asked jordan all he knew about color theory and painting, then i went to this guy [link] and watched all of his photoshop cs4 and cs5 videos (im sure theres a lot of stuff that can be applied to gimp here), last i went and read all of johnks curriculum. thats the gist of it anyways

I don't want to be taught. I want to learn myself.

i had the same opinion for a long time. it didnt get me anywhere. and what i did learn i could have learned so much faster with the proper assistance. but maybe youll have a different better experience than i.

it took me a good while to get used to the thing. are you having much trouble getting used to it yourself?

the only problem is that I'm used to using the friction of paper to stop my hand from shaking. This thing is practically frictionless.

what i used to do is stick paper on top of the pad while i was drawing. its kinda hard on the pen nib though.

I've given up on additive art. I just use subtractive methods. Which you will see work very nicely in my newest deviation.
