Personality: Diesel tends to be very outspoken, in a way. He doesn't really think about how offensive he says something might be, and he often gets in trouble for it. He's rather arrogant and often takes a great amount of pride in his own work. He is self-obsessed and thinks extremely highly of himself. Sometimes he will even go so far as to take more credit for a team effort than he really should. Diesel is highly intelligent and maintains general knowledge of many subjects. Very little manages to get past him, and he tends to consider the many scenarios before one may play out. However, he's also impulsive, not always considering how the consequences of his actions affect himself or others in a tight situation. Diesel cares deeply for his friends, Charm in particular, and he would do anything to protect them, even if it means giving up his own life. He's socially awkward and does not quite understand modern fads or language. Diesel is very stubborn, and he tends to deny it if he's in pain, no matter how great it is. He hates to be outsmarted and rarely admits it when he has been outdone or when he's wrong. Although Diesel is a show-off, he prefers scientific value over personal fame when it comes to his work and helping others.

Trivia:
Diesel's powers come from a series of implants throughout his body. The central point is an chip-like device in his brain which stores electricity for future use, constantly absorbs electricity, and controls the entire system (it switches on and releases electricity when Diesel experiences a rush of adrenaline). The second is an odd device on the back of his neck, the main exchange point for electricity. All electricity going to and from his hands, feet, and head must pass through here first. It can shut down this exchange in the event of an overload. It can also store a certain amount of electricity. This is his weakest point, as it's attached to his spinal cord. Grabbing this implant would be painful, and it can cause death if removed. The third are sets of plates/"discs" implanted in the palms of his hands and the bottom of his feet. Electricity is released through these plates and it can also be absorbed by them as well. The final is a pair of implants similar to that on his neck attached to the back of his ankles. These can stop electricity from reaching his feet, allowing him to stand in shallow water. All of these pieces are connected by heat-proof wires that electricity flows through.
Diesel can take on a Super Form when exposed to all seven Chaos Emeralds. However, due to their overwhelming power and his fragile mind, Diesel will go temporarily insane while in his Super Form. He is extremely volatile and unstable in this state, and he can be very dangerous for others to be around, even his allies. Rather than being called "Super Diesel" or some other variation of that in this form, he is known as "Disorder."

History: Diesel Sherlock Ray was born around a time where a spike in the population, which the government deemed as MetaMorphs, expressed the ability to use elemental, energy, and other types of abilities. He was born to Ventus Bradley Ray and Rosella Donna Ray in the small community of Light Village, located on Thunder Plains., along with his twin brothers, Felix "Disaster" Ray and Zachary "Diabolical" Ray.
Things went relatively well for the family in the first few years of Diesel's life. Ventus and Rosella were thrilled to have had their first son, and, for such a young family in a poor town, they lived a good life. Ventus worked as an engineer in a small automobile repair shop in town, while Rosella, who had not attended college, became a stay at home mom. Besides their occasional arguments due to Ventus' temper, all was well.
When Diesel turned three and began preschool, Ventus and Rosella decided to have another child. Rosella became pregnant with a daughter, and things were looking up for them for the first few months. However, one-fourth of the way through her pregnancy, the family was informed that Rosella had had a miscarriage, which left all three heartbroken.
From there, things took a turn for the worse.
Rosella began a struggle with depression, and it became more difficult for her to focus on caring for Diesel. Ventus' fuse became even shorter, and he gained a tendency to act out in violence. He would sometimes return home drunk, adding the stress on the family. Meanwhile, Diesel struggled to understand his parents' emotions while trying to cope with his own sadness over the loss of his unborn sister.
Rosella and Ventus went through the motions without really feeling anything for a period of time, temporarily leaving Diesel to cope on his own. Their arguments became more frequent and heated, to the point where one or the other would leave for hours on end.
After a period great tension and overwhelming sadness, the two divorced when Diesel was five. Because Rosella lacked a college education, she was not allowed to keep custody of Diesel. She moved back to her hometown of Station Square to live with her mother, reluctantly leaving behind Diesel with his father.
Things changed for Diesel.
Without his mother to care for him after school, Diesel often had to stay in his school's Before and After School Care program. In the extra hours he spent at his school, Diesel resided in the library, reading non-fiction books and learning new subjects as well as children's mystery stories, slowly working his way up to more complex subjects as he grew. Diesel had social anxiety, and rather than playing with other children at lunch or recess, he spent his time reading.
As a result, he was a target to the school bully, Ash Holbrook. Ash often picked on Diesel for being a "teacher's pet" and because of his family's history. It wasn't uncommon for him to be beaten up by Ash before or after school, or for him to have his lunch or toys taken. He often went home with black eyes and small cuts on him. To get back at Ash, Diesel slowly taught himself to be good at pickpocketing. He would often take Ash's lunch money in the middle of beatings or just passing him in the hallway. If Ash found out, Diesel would taunt him by holding it out of his reach with a smug smile on his face. As a result, Diesel got in trouble at school more often. But he did not allow this to stop him. Diesel continued to take things from Ash and his friends until he began to do such things from others on impulse, and he started to get in trouble outside of school for it as well. Diesel was arrested on a few occasions, but the charges were either dropped because of his youth or Ventus would bail him out.
Meanwhile, at home, Diesel, his brothers, and his father became extremely close. The four loved one another and watched out for each other. On stormy days, which were extremely common in Thunder Plains, they would sit and play board or card games together until it passed. On stormy nights, Diesel, Disaster, and Diabolical were allowed to sleep in Ventus' bed with him.
Life was like this for several years. Living in the poor, mildly unsanitary town he resided in, Diesel was often ill, and in that time, if medicine was out of their budget, Diesel would steal it for himself. He also had a tendency to sneak other people's food without them noticing when he and his father were hungry. It was a little risky, but they got by this way. Diesel also took interest in mystery stories, particularly Sherlock Holmes, and true crime novels.
Around the time Diesel was 13, a group known as the A-MetaMorph Corporation appeared and paid a visit to Light Village. They promised the weak power, voice, and a way of fighting back, and all they had to do was volunteer to be part of a "trial". Diesel, who, for most of his life, had felt weak and powerless, volunteered along with a small group of adults and teens. Ventus tried to stop him, but Diesel promised his father he would be home soon, and left with the group. Feeling the need to stand beside their older brother, Disaster and Diabolical accompanied them.
None of them really knew what was in store.
The "A" in A-MetaMorph stood for "Artificial". The AMMC was a company founded by scientists and activists who hated what they called "Natural Born MetaMorphs". They felt they had been chosen as an elite group by God, and they wanted to counter it with their own power. The leading scientist, Dr. Martin Vale, planned to create his own army of Artificial MetaMorphs, build them up to be stronger the Natural MetaMorphs, and kill each of the "Natural Borns" off.
Diesel and the other volunteers, who later became known as the Original Artificials, were given different implants in different parts of their body, depending on what type of abilities they were deemed best-suited for. Diesel and his brothers were each chosen to be Artificial Electric MetaMorphs, and had a vast system of implants and wires placed in them. After each Artificial MetaMorph recovered from their procedures, they were subjected to a series of tests to see the extents of their abilities and what their weaknesses were. Tests varied depending on the types of abilities they had. Some were able to survive them, while others were not so lucky.
Diesel's tests often involved electrocution, to see how much electricity could be stored and managed by his implant. It was learned from testing other unfortunate Electric Artificial MetaMorphs that if too much electricity was stored or it wasn't released, it was cause the implants to burst, killing them instantly. It was also found that Diesel could not be submerged in water past his ankles, or it would electrocute him.
Once their tests were finished, they began training to use their abilities. Diesel was very poor at controlling his powers. He often used too much or not enough electricity, and he often shocked himself and others. He was also rather bad at taking aim when launching an attack. It was found that overusing his abilities would cause Diesel to suffer intense headaches and become very worn down. Being electrocuted by others caused him great pain and he was forced to absorb it. Also, it was very painful for him as well as other Artificial MetaMorphs to use their abilities.
Beyond the tests, life in the institution was similar to that of prisons. They lived in cells, 1-3 people to each, and kept age groups separated. They were also kept separated from other Artificial MetaMorphs with the same powers. Diesel resided in a cell with two MetaMorphs by the names of Plasma Jonathan Relient and Jace Hannibal Ray. Plasma was given the ability to produce hot, plasma-like energy, while Jace morphed metal through implants in his palms. The three became a trio of troublemakers. Diesel looked up to Jace, who was a year older than him, and often followed his lead.
After several months, the scientists discovered a new, more efficient way of giving the volunteers powers: genetic altering. This way did not cause the Artificial MetaMorphs pain when they used their abilities, made them easier to control, and it lacked the risks implants carried with them. As a result, the Original Artificials were deemed obsolete, and the strongest of them were killed off. Those who remained were released, including Diesel, Jace, and Plasma. A few months after genetic alteration operations began, the government discovered what the AMMC was doing and shut it down.
Jace went his own way, while Diesel, Disaster, Diabolical, and Plasma went to Light Village to meet up with Ventus. After a happy reunion, the trio moved to Soleanna Castle Town. Diesel taught Plasma how to be a bandit, and they got by on what the duo stole along with the small income Ventus had. Though their crimes were typically minor, Diesel and Plasma became wanted criminals in Soleanna. The trio moved to a secret location within the city to avoid detection and continued their work. That is, until Diesel made a mistake.
On a particularly risky operation when Diesel was 15, the police were called on Diesel and Plasma. As they neared, Diesel panicked and fled out of selfish cowardice, leaving behind Plasma, who was then arrested.
Diesel had trouble coping afterwards. He turned to drinking wine excessively to "help" him deal with his guilt over Plasma's arrest and cope with his memories of his childhood and of the AMMC institute. When Ventus discovered this, he hid the wine, leaving him in severe withdraw. They found themselves repeating a pattern: drink, hide, withdraw, find, repeat.
He did not struggle with passing school, as intelligence had surpassed even an above average level. However, he often fell asleep in class, and it was not uncommon for him to get in trouble for this.
When Diesel turned 16, his cousin, Hestia Rosemary Pyro, and her best friend, Charm Irene Roybal, came to him one day to ask him about the disappearance of Hestia's mother and his aunt, who had been missing for three years. Knowing Diesel was highly intelligent and observant, Hestia hoped he could provide answers.
For Diesel, it was love at first sight when he saw Charm. But initially, Charm did not like Diesel. In her eyes, Diesel was very arrogant, extremely self-obsessed, and highly volatile. Of course, this was, in every way, true. This provoked her, and the two fought for a moment before Hestia stepped in. Charm was surprised to see that Diesel was also a user of lightning-based abilities.
Diesel agreed to assist them, and after they found her mother, Charm and Hestia returned to the GUN base they worked at in Station Square. Wanting to be closer to Charm, Diesel convinced Ventus to move to Station Square, where he then joined GUN as an agent to work with Charm. After growing closer, Charm no longer disliked Diesel, and the two eventually began dating.
Due to the fact that two agents could not be romantically involved, Diesel left GUN at age 17 to join the Station Square Police Department. Though young, Diesel's intelligence won him a promotion to a homicide detective after the end of the six months he had to spend working as a police officer. Not long afterwards, Diesel was assigned as one of the leading detectives in a serial killer case, in which the unidentified subject would violently kill his victims, and then cannibalize them. The murderer was deemed "Hannibal the Cannibal" by the media.
After a few more bodies turned up, Diesel found that the killer had slipped up, leaving behind a tuff of black and green fur that had been ripped from him during a struggle. The DNA from it was run through the national database, and although a match did not turn up, it was discovered that the killer had a DNA profile which was similar to Diesel's, meaning that whoever the killer was, he was one of Diesel's relatives.
Hannibal the Cannibal's identity became known when he sent a letter to Diesel as a way of taunting him. In the letter, Diesel decoded that his name was Jace Hannibal Ray and he was Diesel's step brother, first son of Rosella Ray and Aiden Wayland. Diesel remembered that Jace had been the boy he'd looked up to at the AMMC institute, and, keeping in mind an idea of what his appearance was, began tracking him down. Diesel and Jace became sworn enemies after their first encounter, in which Jace threatened Charm and cannibalized part of Diesel's flesh.
Diesel and Charm continue to date, and he remains working as a homicide detective with the SSPD, making a daily strive to help others.

It doesn't mention Disaster and Diabolical much in his history because I didn't want to rewrite it :1 I hope it's not confusing because I didn't read much of it as I went through and edited details
