Description
In two week I'll be visiting the Elf Fantasy Fair (also known as Elfia). Like last year I really wanted to build a costume of the newest assassin. Last year however, we got 2 CGI trailers and a bunch of concept art and even some screenshots at the beginning of March. This presented me with the oppertunity to work on Edward for two full months. This year we got nothing apart from 5 leaked images (thank you for that, but next time higher resolution pleaseSince the design of the character did seem less complicated (compared to Connor, Edward or Ezio) I took my 1 month of time and started drawning the pieces out. At first the lack of references was a pain in the butt, afterward it actually granted me with some artistic freedom. You are now looking at a part of the (unpainted and unweathered) weaponbelt setup that is a product of that freedom and own input. The references gave the following information: 1: A bigger patch of leather at the back. 2: A flintlock that is positioned in a diagonal matter, only partly covered with leather itself. 3: The scabberd is connected at the back with a ring and strap of leather, positioned at the bigger leather patch. 4: The scabbard consists of two leather pointy straps directed to the sword. After that I tried to look for similar scabbards and flintlock holsters (historicly these were actually almost only used at horses XD) and came up with these references (just examples from the loads of pictures I found or used): www.lutel-handicraft.com/files… and www.deviantart.com/art/Pirate-… .
I'm actually pretty proud on what I managed to do with 3,20 euros of old leather belts. Next to that you can look at my flintlock replica which I weathered down a bit. I never used it for Connor or Edward because I only have one of those, not two or four. Next to that a close up of one of the two Edward cutlasses. I actually want to replace that with a rapier someday
So, all summed up: second-hand store belts made into a highly imagenery weaponsetup based on low resolution references. Now as a gift to the people who actually read this description: I guess some people will be interested in the actual costume. Well, I'm half-way finished with the coat, but I'll probably change the collar. Next to that, judge by yourself: sta.sh/0cdcv1yelmt .
Thank you for your attention!

What material did you use? Did you use real leather?

Where did you find the old couches? Did you just go to junkyard to find it or is there something near by? Also what kind of plastic did you use?

Well friends and online second hand sale sites (they sometimes offer them for free).
The plastic depends. PVC for sturdy jobs, platic from milkcans when I only need to hold shape.

Augh. Between you and all the amazingly beautifully glorious Assassins I saw at Emerald City Comicon this year now I'm torn between making a Scout Regiment costume (from Attack on Titan) or an Assassin to wear to next year's ECCC.
gyaaaah decisions decisions!
This is amazing as always! Thanks for sharing!

Why not both.
I am actually pondering about doing a AoT costume. Though it would be a steampunk like version, totally ripped after a Titan fight (there are some things that just don't make sence with that anime).
Like the metal boxes to carry swords in, waist of material and extra weight. Wooden plating in a metal frame would make more sence .
Well anyways, good luck on your decision. Both could be fun yet challanging .

Oh, both are something I want to do SOMEDAY, but I think I'll be sticking to just one costume per con for another year or two. I'll have time this summer to make a costume so perhaps my fickle brain will make a choice by then. Knowing my luck it'll decide on something Zelda-related, lol!
I love the idea of a beat-up steampunk Scout Regiment member. Whenever I start work on a complex cosplay I'll probably throw my progress pics up on DevArt, and spare my facebook friends the EXTREME nerdiness I'm capable of. ^_^

Ohhhh man that's awesome. But I think I'm the wrong gender to do that one lol. I'll probably end up going as Midna from Twilight Princess sometime soon though.
If I can figure out how to make her Fused Shadow helm look good and not be so heavy it hurts my neck, that is. x_x

That helmet should be easy enough to do with craftfoam. It won't be heavy and you can engrave the details in .

For the scale of it that stuff is surprisingly heavy! At least all the sort I can find locally is. It's also EXPENSIVE.
I'll probably do a pepakura (folded paper) model of it and then resin/bondo it. Hubby's got some experience in that so he'd be able to help me figure it all out.

Indeed! Arnaud's whole attire was alot less heinous to draw. And these look identical to his arsenal.
I hope you have a grand time in the fair. (P.S. My male friend needs references for an Arnaud cosplay in the future. Eould you mind ifhe uses your picture?)

Me either. I would like to get this done before Eurogamer. Edward was made for that. But as he was done so fast i thought doing the new assassin would be better, Also Ubisoft likes to change many things on the assassins makes it a little harder for us cosplayers
