Description
While the idea of a deep one is as straightforward as it gets on the surface level (pun intended), these creatures present a very deep and complex dilemma. The Deep Ones are a race of fish-frog like creatures with origins that go as deep as the very oceans they reside in. They are immortal, most of them starting as humans who are the hybrid of mature Deep ones and human, who develop their eldritch appearance later in their life, drifting further away from humanity with every year that passes, until they finally become part of something that is greater than humanity.
The Deep Ones, for me, represent a fear of something that we can see, but not understand. A tangible evil that slowly corrupts us from within, gnawing from the sides of society, making a promise to annihilate humanity once given the chance.
Also they probably smell bad because of all the fish
