Description
Keeping up with the lovecraftian and spooky vibes, I decided to doodle and color another iteration of the always fascinating Hastur, of course in his "King in Yellow" avatar.I believe that everything that makes Hastur work is the fact that nothing is known about him, not really, a trait shared by many of the gods in the pantheon of Lovecraft, but what is known is that he has a form that is oddly humanoid, except for having a blank mask covering its face. The simple yet effective uncanny image of a being that resembles the familiar, but is so alien, mysterious and in this case horrifying, never fails to fascinate and draw me deeper to it.
What more can be done to make it look uncanny? What elements can be added and removed to make it less familiar? That I believe is the beauty of the gods from Lovecraft, and especially the ones that have a form that remotely resembles a man, as the very irony of a being as insignificant as a mortal human can be compared to any part of gods older than the very planet we stand on is so overwhelming, it becomes hilarious.
Also he is yellow, and that's my favorite color
Hope you like it!

Awesome! After I read the book The King in Yellow, Hastur's been edging out Nyarlathotep as my fav Lovecratian god.

Thanks! Hastur does have an air of mystery about him that does make him so appealing, although Nyarathotep and Shub-Niggurath are still probably my favorites by concept alone ^^
