How do I explain my attraction to Sym-Bionic Titan?The story is preditable; the characters mediocre so far. The villain is rather cliche and no real backstory has been given for really anyone, even, surprisingly, the main cast. (I guess I'll amend that slightly,Lance got one episode.)
So, what gives?
Well, the art is fantastic and I have a huge nerdy crush on anything by Genndy Tartakovsky. He got me young with Dexter's Laboratory. So here I stand presenting some fanart and hoping the show will find a way to wow me with something other than superficial means.

Although I have to disagree on a few points (a lot of the characters did break the stereotype role as the episodes went along), your work is fantastic

Sadly, I never got to finish the series, only got about halfway through before life kicked me in the butt.
So, maybe, with a full-blown re-watch I'll enjoy it more? At the least, each episode was always wonderfully animated and that's worth the re-watch in itself.

I've bought the season both on itunes and ps3, they're definitively worth watching again
And yeah, the series gets a ton better. The last few episodes in particular are really amazing.

I sometimes worry that I'm restricted or even hurt by using traditionl media exclusively. I feel like I can't fix some things that others can with digital tools so the final product suffers. Still, this does drive me to try and improve to make the art the best it can be with what I've got to use.

well you can't really give a backstory to a robot and a princess. A robot was created in a lab and a princess had a pampered life. Also with Illana, it is easy to understand her mind sets; where as Lance is a corporal no older than 17 who always acts very depressing.

Very true. But I don't want the story to simply rely on stereotypes of the characters positions.
I want to know WHY Octus was created. Was the king expecting his entire planet to be overun by his presumably dead best friend?
Also, in Lance's case, why were/are children employed so early for military purposes?
Who are the Mutraddi? Why are they evil? What's the history of the conflict?
How did Ilana learn all those acrobatic moves? Why were they necessary?
I understand that relationships need to be taken gradually to remain believable, but a truly masterful storyteller can incorporate those bonds into the revealing of the story as well.
And, with the series over half-way over, I just am not personally satisfied with what's been given. Hopefully the next half will pick up the pace and the slack.
