Yoooo, Team Sweater won! Badly, hehe. I'm happy that I joined the team I could win again. Poor Marina that she loses often. xDAnyway, here's my fan art for Splatfest holiday theme. For Sweater panel; Both Garnet and Ari (Octoling FC by Aykbro ) wearing not-very-fabulous looking Squidmas sweater and "keeping each other warm" in a snowy weather. Kichona is dying in laughter in the background, not really caring wearing a T-shirt outside (or I'm too lazy to design her winter coat. xD)
And for Socks panel; Garnet wants to tease something about her feet before she interrupts him. And for the orange baby squid...that is Kichona's brother. :>
Edit: I changed the dialogues (and better fonts) to prevent any confusion. You can see the original drawing in my Twitter account (*cringe intensifies because my dumb brain is being stupid xD*)

"Sweaters vs Socks"...is that a reference to the "Shirts vs Skins" convention in some basketball team theming?

Hm I don't think so. For this theme in Splatoon, people choose which team they gonna pick and fight for it. A theme of, "Which bad holiday gift would you rather receive? A Sweater or Socks?"
Personally for me, I chose Team Sweater and as for my bad holiday gift to receive. xD

Fair enough, it's just in a competitive game like Splatoon, this is not a theme I'd expect from it or its fanbase.

Heh actually, Splatfest actually grab references that are taken straight out from other fanbase in the 1st Splatoon game, such as; Team Autobots vs Team Decepticons (Transformers), Team Spongebob vs Team Patrick, and Team Red vs Team Green/Blue (Pokémon).
Perhaps we'll have more of these references too in future Splatfests in Splatoon 2, possibly.

I know about the Autobots and Decepticons thing from the first one. Didn't know they did SPONGEBOB of all things. Pokemon I'd understand since Nintendo owns both, but not friggin' SPONGEBOB. Splatoon must practically print money for Nintendo if they can license properties from billion dollar companies into their games. What's next? Team Mickey vs Team Donald? Team Captain America vs Team Iron Man? Team Superman vs Team Batman? Team Wanda vs Team Cosmo?

Haha, they certainly did grab Spongebob references into the game. I just remember one more thing; McDonald French Fries vs McDonald Chicken Nuggets too. Well that's for Japanese version, we got something else instead in North America. Each region also got their own theme compare to ours, but sometime we have the same theme from time to time.
Team Superman vs Team Batman could be something, they're both popular. Haha, good idea for the theme. xD

Oops, I could have worded better. Ahh too late to fix it, many people already saw, nuuu! xD Well Kichona into foot fetish I guess would be a surprise, even though I'm not into that stuff. At least Garnet tend to lie here and there. lol He meant something like, "You can wear these stupid looking socks or show your "super attractive feet."" The last part caught Kichona off-guard.
