The way I see it, Peridot's powers mean one of two things:
A) Telekinesis, the most basic explanation.
B) Magnetism, useful sure but I bet gem metals and a lot of other Earth metals aren't magnetic so it's uses might be limited.
C) Electro-magnetism, this is different because it means that Period can control low level electric impulses like the ones found in the tablet and use it for magnetic purposes like moving the rings.
