but i think it was just a mistake... steven cares about everybody.. i think pearl was in worse status than peridot, and he just chose her because of that. probably after checking out pearl was ok, steven asked peridot as well, but maybe they didn't show that on the episode. (steven knew pearl was stronger than peridot tho....)
