Description

Pappy stared at the spoon in frustration. The darn thing simply would not move, no matter how hard she tried. Prodding the little thing with her paw to make sure it hadn't been glued to the table she tried once more. Holding her paw above the infuriating little silver object she focused, imagining the spoon connected to her by an invisible thread. With a deep breath, Pappy reached for her magic and felt it spark to life as she lifted her paw upward she saw the spoon vibrating slightly for a moment before it suddenly stopped, the faint yellow glow snapping to a blue as Pappy found herself feeling water all about her. She groaned in Frustration and slumped down on the table. Darn water, even now it was taunting her.

Miss Netty placed a gentle paw on the frustrated gro's back "There, there, dear, you'll get it."

"But how?" Pappy asked, turning her eyes to her teacher, "It's like, I just can't feel the light magic, all I feel is water." Pappy scowled at the word, water was both terrifying and now plotting to ruin her chances of learning light magic

Netty scratched her head in thought before replying "Perhaps we need to try something different?"

"Like what?" Pappy asked her ears lifting as she looked curiously at Netty, if there was an easier way to deal with this, she simply had to know.

"Well if water is what you're comfortable with, why not try levitating something with water in it?" Netty smiled, before heading off to help another student

"Something with water in it?" Pappy thought, trying to find what would be her best option. A glint of light coming from outside caught her attention. Outside she spied Fennel, sitting on the grass surrounded by...was that snow? 'Of course!' Pappy thought excitedly, she opened the large window and leapt out heading towards the stoic wyngro and his pile of white snow. Silently Pappy crawled up to the pile, so as not to disturb Fennel while he worked. Lifting her paw above the snow, she concentrated. At first, she felt only the presence of water, instead of pushing the feeling aside, Pappy concentrated on it. And then around it, as she focused on the space outside the water her magic glands began to glow a pale yellow, the pile of snow formed into a tiny, but tidy little ball as she lifted it shakily into the air.

Pappy gasped happily at her tiny victory, barely managing to keep her excitement contained. As if nature itself wished to celebrate her victory, a tiny yellow butterfly landed on Pappy's snowball, the smile immediately slipped from her face as she stared on in shock. Butterflies! She hadn't seen butterflies in months, she was so overcome she wasn't sure what to do. Suddenly the little butterfly fluttered away, battling against the light breeze that Fennel's little snow storm was giving off.

"Wait don't go!" Pappy called out, jumping to her feet.

Fennel's eyes popped open at her cry "Wha- Offf!" Without a second's warning, Pappy had barrelled straight into the other wyngro, after shaking the confusion off she looked at the little butterfly, sitting atop her snowball once more. "You poor thing," she said, "you look tired." Looking at the snowball, Pappy had an idea "Maybe I can help!" Focusing on space around the little-winged creature, Pappy was able to switch her target to the butterfly.

As Pappy played with the butterflies, gently lifting them up with her telekinesis, she was unaware of the wyngro beneath her. Fennel lay silently, his face covered in the no longer levitating snow as he tried desperately to process what was going on.

Pappy...I think levitating butterflies is cheating...
I actually was going to do this as a comic, had the whole things sketched out too, but I really don't have time to be that ambitious.

Oh well she got there, in the end, poor Fennel, though, he seemed so at peace calling forth his snow

I'm sure Pappy will realise what she's done, eventually, she's just a bit too happy to see her precious butterflies again.

Had some fun with the lighting on this image, I would have liked to do a background, but unfortunately, I haven't got enough free time this week.

Forgot to comment on this but it's super cute and I love how stupidly oblivious Papillon is. xD She is such a child at heart.

She really is and even when she does realise that she's on top of fennel she's just gonna start a conversation with him

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee lookit it's done!  I loveeessss it!

Pappy looks so darn happy and Fennel looks incredibly shocked.  Hehehe.  His personal bubble has been unwilling popped and he isn't sure how to handle it.  Here the thought he was safe from interacting with the other students, too.  XD  Damn.

Lovely work as always!  Your lines and smooooth coloring is gorgeous.  The expressions are spot on and all the little details really help pull it together.  Huzzah!

Thanks, I am glad you enjoy my image offerings and I couldn't leave the poor guy all alone in ice class. This is class after all, which is time to socialise, even if that means being sat on by another wyngro, it's still socialising!

Now he's just gonna have to figure out how to get Pappy off him, cause once she realises he's there, she'll probably strike up a conversation, oblivious to the shattered remains of personal bubble lying about. XD

Probably a little something like this

Pappy: *still sitting on him, speaking excitedly* Oh, hi Fennel! How are you? Did you see all the butterflies? Isn't it wonderful?!"
