Despite being Built-in 1913 many of the other engines treat him as a father and equal ever those who are actually older than him, and as he himself put it "I was an absolute idiot who in a short time learned more sense than most learn in a life time, they treat me with respect for that alone, but I learned from them, and it made myself and even them better people.

Despite his wisdom Edward can still be impatient and even he has limits, like for example smashing himself up that one time.
