I think they put that to show how stupid some people are.
I mean, we continuously cut down trees even though they give us the oxygen we breathe. So, I think they wrote place instead of space to show how truly stupid some humans are.

The artist is French. Someone else explained that in French, they use the equivalent of the word "place" where we would use the word "space". It's a translation error.
