I find it amusing that you fail to realise that the world is already a jumbled mess of precisely that - an army of people exposing you to whatever they want... architects and developers expose you to whatever they wish and paint it however they choose, advertisers splash inane and petty advertising across every free inch of space, and so on. Extend that just a little farther and you balk. How very peculiar.
Is it because no one pays for or is paid for graffiti? That is a massive point in its favour, not against it. It is an expression of creativity completely free of avarice...
But I don't expect you to agree.

lol im not going to be drawn into your practiced anarchist conspiracist theory rant. For the record though I hate the consumerist world as much as anything, graphiti represents a disrespect to society not the fat cats.
As for your second point, no even paid for graphiti doesnt impress me, but i do have issues with little thugs sewing their poorly formed garbage all over civilization like diaperless children with diarrhea.
You say expression as if that's the end all be all justification. Expression comes in many forms some are quite harmful or destructive. As for avarice? no, much of what passes for tagging is savages marking territory and claiming the streets against other assholes. People have died over tagging. You tell me what's so wonderful and "free of avarice" when some gang comes to the suburbs and shits all over signs and trucks and buildings.

Conspiracy hah, amusing. No, a conspiracy theory would be if I suggested that aliens or Martha Stewart were responsible for the oppression of graffiti artists. All this is is you lumping each and every piece of graffiti into the same category.
I was certainly not ranting, but responding to your own bigotry.

Please keep in mind the original individual you were replying to said "art like this" not "random acts of graffiti". I do believe that permission should be sought for any public artwork that is using existing property. However, this particular work appears to have been created in an area that need not require asking.
In reply to the original comment: Yes, the world could indeed look amazing with art like this in the right places. Moderation and tact being key. But, alas, the definition of beauty is a fickle thing.

No, my initial comment was about painting whatever one wanted wherever one wanted, to which klaus said that was fine and attempted to defend all graffiti by saying the world was already a mess.
During the course of his cliches he did try to backtrack and alter his point, but my point still stands.
The right places is not the point either, I have a lot of issues with "street art" being romanticized because it's defenders always ignore the vast majority of vandalism and honestly terrible work that gets put out there.
Beauty is not fickle, hype on the other hand and a strong desire to be trnedy and popular leads people to chase down things that objectively are shit.
btw I hate how that actual tree on the left was was spray painted to match the painting.
