Nice! and very helpful. my style is also based on CANON and it later on evolved to what i do now. My proportions still resemble the CANON style while the features are semi-realistic. i also give my characters Unique proportions and facial structures. the biggest difference is that i do the eyes smaller and give them actual hooves XD
there should be more tutorials like this, more uniqueness will do much good IMO. when i look at most of the MLP fan-art i think Manga and Vectors are overrated.

I was starting my second attempt to draw one, messed up on the head, thought it looked like a mouse's head, and drew a mouse. O_O how could a mouse come out of a pony? That I don't know.
