Naydene was deaf. She had been born that way, and at four years old, it didn't bother her a bit. Nearly every Ranch hand knew sign language, and she could read lips. When Jojo was near she even heard whispers on occasion. Well... She thought she did, but that could just be the feelings she got from him.

She was a happy, carefree child with an easy smile, and a quiet laugh. She was quick with her fingers, and a daredevil in the saddle, and she had even gotten her first bee bee gun from Emery, one of the twins. Now, she wanted a slew of hunting dogs, so she could be just like her favorite person in the world, Papa.

Mama was against it. She thought that girls should ride in English events, Dressage or small jumps. But Naydene's pony, Rosay, was a western horse. Roping, ranging, cutting up cattle and reigning, that's what she was built for, and when Naydene finally got to sit in Jojo's saddle, she knew that's what he was made for too. So she had her heart set on a new hunting dog.

For her fifth birthday, her mother relented, and her father ordered her a new stud. He was one of the Nudari that they now had a small pack of. She had two puppies, little girl babies that she was absolutely in love with. This boy, though, was a trained tracker and sight hound, and Naydene couldn't wait to ride out with her father and try him out. She was already really good at shooting targets from Rosay's back. Maybe she could even bag a rabbit!

"I don't think she realizes, she'll have to kill the poor animals." said Nichole, standing on the porch with Kyle as they watched their daughter, her horse, and her new dog.

Kyle smiled, kissing Nichole's red curls and keeping an eye on their three year old son, Hoyt, as he raced down the steps at them.

"I'm sure she'll be fine. She is my daughter, and I'll explain it's food. She's going to be great."
