Description May be spoiler for those who haven't read RG Veda or TRC or X/Tokyo Babylon... Oh well... Poor Subaru had a tough life, but so did Fai and Kujaku, so who is the most angst-clamp-character ever? The title is something I read somewhere, not my words, but true Hope you can read my writting

They're so cute it would be a shame not to notice them Ever since I got to know Kujaku's story ( first I read TB and then I got to know Tsubasa, so RG Veda was the last of the three Clamp works for me to read ), I kept wondering the same question, as Fai, Kujaku and Subaru are my three favourite Clamp males ( together with Kuro-pon, but he's a totally different character ) and their lives have probably been the most tragic among everything Clamp have ever come up with . And my conclusion is that in fact Kujaku is the least angsty one, while being the most tragic character of the three at the same time. Subaru is definitely the king here he's even too angsty to chill out and talk about how angsty he is .

Same conclusion here. Kujaku was the one who could cope with his fate the best and poor Subaru fell to a dark pit of depression.

Which is actually very interesting, because out of the three Subaru is the only one who hasn't ever faced the undeserved hatred of the whole world, nobody ever tormented him or abused him in any way ( except for Seishiro, but that's a different matter I mean the abuse from anonymous people, the kind experienced by Kujaku or Fai ). Quite the contrary, he has always been loved, respected and appreciated by the people around him...But perhaps that's precisely the reason why he staggered so much under the burden of what had happened to him. He felt so guilty because of his feelings for Seishiro and the tragedies they brought forth, but at the same time he couldn't make himself let go of them. He had no particular grudge against the world, and yet he ended up turning his back to it.

So true! That's exactly what I think too. It seems as if Subaru being surrounded by love and appreciation wasn't used to any negative emotion and tragedy so he didn't know what to do with the events. And of course there is another problem: Seishirou was the only one (except for Hokuto, but she was his twin sister so she doesn't count ) who "loved" Subaru for who he was and not out of thankfulness for his abilities as an onmyouji. This makes it a really big shock for him to find out Seishirou's true nature and motives.

Yes, Subaru is very noble and selfless, but at the same time ( or maybe because of that ) really frail...And as Hokuto once said, he has the bad habit of taking somebody else's feelings in as his own, he's so sensitive and full of sympathy - but very little of this sympathy he had for his own self. And as you said, Seishirou must have been the first person except for Hokuto ( in other words, an outsider ) who seemed to understand Subaru and appreciate him the way he was...My, Clamp really *is* sadistic.
