I believe there must be a couple of ways to get to play some of the older games. Myself, I have a emulator of sorts (more like a colletor's edition or something) that allows you to play, on your Playstation 2, games from the first Atari console, from Master System, from NES, from Mega Drive and from SNES.
Castlevania III, the game which inspires this series, is one of the NES games and although old, I must say, that gem has a charm of its own!

Oh trust me, neither was I. This is something you get by perseverance and determination. And trust me, Castlevania III is a game that makes you want to play it again. Trust me, when you pass the first stage, you'll see why.
