Description
This I think is a Tern. If I'm not mistaken the Sandpiper has longer legs... I'm sure some one will correct me if I'm wrong.Anyways, I caught this guy dining on the Coquina's in the sand.
If you're wondering why I had the ISO so high, it's that this little guys head moves at 900 mph! I wanted to get a clear shot and stop the motion blur.

Can it be itβs the same species as the ones I took pictures of . Iβm not sure of the name but no one corrected me and itβs so hard to be sure because the different species look quite the same. We need an expert here!

Not easy to tell when you cant see the legs and beak because they are in the water.

What's wild about these little birds, is that they grab a little clam that washes in and burrows into the sand, so the water level is only about 1/4" deep where he's standing. He's plucking the clam out of the sand before it burrows enough to evade him.

Legs and beak are too long to be a tern. I'm pretty sure it's a sandpiper, possibly a Western Sandpiper, based on the plumage.
Nice shot!

That's cool! Would a western Sandpiper be in Florida?

They winter all along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.

I meant the birds were smarter than I am, but I'm pretty sure you are too!
