Yeah, there's one in every Smash game. A joke character so weird, it basically caused gamers (such as me) to raise an eyebrow.
In Melee, it was Mr. Game and Watch. In Brawl, it was R.O.B. Smash 4 had two with the Wii Fit Trainer and the Duck Hunt Dog. And in Ultimate, it's a Piranha Plant.

While I think it's a weird choice for a character in Smash, I, however, think it's a hilariously clever idea. I mean, various Mario enemies have appeared as playable characters in Mario spin-offs in the past. I mean, they race around in go-karts, play torturous mini-games at parties, and even play sports. So, I think it's high time that they joined Smash at one point (even though people would rather have Krystal or Shantae in the game, like me).

So, in this pic, I decided to have Piranha Plant be joined by three other Mario enemies whom I think would've been a better choice to be playable fighters in Ultimate. And, they're the big three Mario enemies, in my opinion: Goomba, Koopa Troopa, and Shy Guy. I mean, they have some great potential for hilarious move sets that would make them great mains. ^^
In fact, if all four them team up, they'll probably get their revenge on the Mario Bros. for jumping on them in their quest to rescue Peach. It'd be nice for Bowser to be backed up by representatives from his army.

Yeah! Quadruple Threat from the Mushroom Kingdom.
