Winning the Hound Group class was exhilarating, even if there wasn't much competition. The winter-themed decorations had been cleared from the show arena, and the white portable fences replaced with sleek black ones. Anthony stood at the sidelines with Chester, nervous but ready to show to the best of his ability.
When the announcer called out Hounds, Anthony and Chester trotted out onto the red carpet and around the ring; Anthony couldn't see Chester's movement but he could feel him at the end of the lead; could feel the excitement and curiosity at this new place and all the strange doggie smells.
As they stood in line waiting their turn to run the ring again, Anthony scratched Chester's chin and Chester turned to look at the audience surrounding the BIS area, but held his stack.
"Ready, Ches?" Anthony asked when it was their turn, and Chester's tail rose slightly and he moved forward towards the judge...
