My Sceptile was the only Pokemon that knew False Swipe, yet all I really ever did was just throw Ultra balls at it until I finally caught it. I rarely ever used the move! xDD

Mesprit was actually easier to catch than Azelf for me. Because Azelf kept using Nasty Plot and Uproar I couldn't put it to sleep and it kept killing my Pokemon too easily.
