Description Tyrannosaur are one of the most famous dinosaur group and so many researcher focused on them. But though we knew many information of them, We still don't knew lots of their covering.

At one time they were believed to have plentiful stage-one-feathers and many paleoartists gave plentful and flamboyant feathers to tyrannosaur. But new study of most tyrannosaur skin told they were naked and had small scales (Bell, PR, Campione, NE, Persons, WS, Currie, PJ, Larson, PL, Tanke, DH, & Bakker, RT (2017). Tyrannosauroid integument reveals conflicting patterns of gigantism and feather evolution). As a result, many tyrannosaur regain scale in the paleoart. However, Can we convince that all members of this group were naked?

Tyrannosaurs lived in diverse and diffrent climate. They lived from the cold alaska (Nanuqsaurus hogrundi) to warm flood plain (Tarbosaurus bataar). In todays world, (exterminated) woolly mammoth were related today asian elephant. But the climate which surrounded them was so diffrent, so one of them evolved plentful long fur and another one evolved short, sparse fur. I know that may be unreasonable to substitute an example of a large herbivore mammal to a Tyrannosaurid, but that example let us to think a various of integument in a close species.

In my drawing, right Tarbosaurus lives in warm climate. They didn't need a thick coat of feather anymore in the cretaceous mongolia, so they had a few fat and short proto feather. They are bearing no specific advantage or detriment to their owners. In contrast, left Nanuqsaurus is walking snow ground with thick coat of fur and fat. Some people say tyrannosaur used fat instead of feather to keep their body temperature, but todays most polar animals (except aquatic animals) has both thick fat and plentiful fur(or feathers). Why not we think certain tyrannosaurs used these way?

I agree 100%.

People tend to much to satay with the 100% scaly or the 100% feathered options.
