This quote really does describe the Vietnam war well.

Is the Spooky patch on her arm anything to do with the 'Spooky' gunship aircraft that flew in the war?

Yes, i quoted it from the infantry's zippos/lighters, you can check them all out by google image them "Vietnam War Zippo Quotes" 

And yes, that patch was from that gunship (Which i don't know where they put it IRL, but i put it on her shoulder anyway hahaha, i figured out gunship crew won't get into combat directly so she looks clean and chill)
