This would have been a nice flashback to see in the film, cause really we never see what Turbo really looks like in the film at all(unpixelated), since mostly he's glitching between his old look and his King Candy look

I always had the feeling Turbo wasn't the nicest guy in the arcade before the incident. Never pictured him as a smoker though XD

Sometimes, early programmers who were forced to do something they thought was lame or stupid would alter the design in a subtle way as a protest gag that would go over their clueless bossβs head. Making turbo into a burnout has-been, instead of his original, cheerful design would be just that sort of thing.

LOl. I think the mistake come from for 2 things:
1) Perpective illusion for the height of the Twins when they are on the podium.
2)For the "square head" design for the Twins, I looked throught the web having an explication about why and I found an illustration of Turbo and the Twins on a podium. The helmet's Twins are square in this illustration because the artist draw this in a "sprite" version. In the reality, the helmet's twins has round shape.( see there:[link]

Don't worry I've seen all official art of them already I could find. And I even used a ruler to measure their height right on the screen LOL. Turbo is actually twice fatter than Twins. ^^"
