Description Happy new year, everyone! I have been a little less active for the past half year, but I have actually a few images that I haven't posted. 

This is the lagoon nebula, one of the bright jewels of the summer sky when the Milky Way's brightest section is visible. This is a region of active star formation, and collapsing clouds of gas (Bok Globules) can also be seen, which is the precursor to the formation of new stars. The powerful radiation from the stars within it energise the gas clouds into producing light in the visible wavelengths, which is what we see in photographic images.
