New OC! Geisha the hermit crab pony!

Changeling/Siren hybrid

Haughty, vain, somewhat prickly. Tends to distance herself from others, but seeks attention and validation wherever she can find it.

Changeling hybrids can get... weird. Changelings as a rule can hybridize with just about anything, but the results are often unpredictable. Geisha is unable to shapeshift, but does retain the ability to change color. (the bottom right image, of her in her shell, is her natural unaltered colors.) She can and does eat actual food, but must consume at least some emotional magic to stay healthy. She can gain this through singing, as a siren does, and can also feed off attention directed at her. She has a budding career as a singer and voice actor. Many ponies find her appearance a bit too, segmented to be comfortable though. This doesn't bother her. It does not. Not at all.

Geisha can breath both above and below water. Underwater. she can trot along the sea bed fairly easily, though she cant really swim. While on land though, she has mobility issues. She can lift her shell off the ground and walk with it, but doing so for long periods is extremely tiring. Dragging the shell around on the ground is technically an option, but it's extremely undignified and can damage the shell itself. She has several custom made dollies and wheeled chariots that she can rest her shell on to get around.

The shells themselves are quite a problem actually. Since she's, you know, pony sized. She does need a shell. it helps her regulate her humidity and temperature, keeps her extremely venerable abdomen safe, and a number of other things. She can be outside of one for short periods, but it causes extrem anxiety. There are some sea creatures in Equestria's waters that produce shells big enough, but they are extremely rare, and not all of them are an appropriate shape for her to use. The one shown in this reference is one of her prized natural shells, but she has had several artificial shells commissioned from artists and sculptors who can custom build them for her. The problem is only going to get worse as time goes on, as Geisha doesn't seem to have stopped growing. While currently slightly taller than the average pony mare, she may just continue getting bigger for the rest of her life.

The shell thing wasn't nearly as big of a problem when she was a nymph. She was about the size of a kitten when she was born, and was able to fit into some large shells from normal sea life.
