Description
The Resplendent Persuader produces a photonic resonance in surface nerve cells. The adjustable frequency range allows for the easy direction of anywhere from one to thirty megadols of pain directly into the central nervous system. The stun and instantaneous death settings allow this handy device a classification as 'firearm' rather than 'implement of torture' when carrying through customs.Professor Tursiart's Ray Pistols & Accoutrements
Are unique prop weapons and gadgets made from repurposed and found objects, with body casts of genuine simulated metals. Sporting the latest in fictitious technology from tomorrow's yesteryear and the future that never was; these pistols are fashioned in an amalgamative style of steampunk, sci-fi, and retro-future aesthetics. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art, handcrafted by Rose Tursi

Nice work, though I do have to question the gun's accuracy when aiming down the sights (or scope), as it seems as if the vacuum tube is in the way. Maybe it would be better off on the side, or below, the barrel of the gun instead of above it?

Rule of cool is always my priority when designing a new ray pistol. Though even if it weren't, this happens to be an amazing self-aiming weapon!
Also, no vaccum tubes were used in the making of this ray pistol. Just a light bulb and a fuse plug. Thanks!

Well then, care to tell me how this self-aiming feature would work when picking out certain targets? For example, in addition to humans, animals, aliens, or robots, you might also need to shoot at something more unorthodox, like at a hanging rope to cause it to snap and drop a weight down, or a barrel full of gunpowder, gasoline, or any other flammable or explosive material. Would your self-aiming feature be able to recognize such potential targets?

must say - like the additions to this also... as it appears functional but avoids the "I've got and nerf and all I'm going to do is paint it" look.
The other thing I really like is the paint job.
it looks as it has been made from a very unusual material that seems to resemble something between lead and granite.
And the icing on the cake the decorative additions have an aged quality to them - but they don't make seem like something that's been found on an archaeological dig from the future.... which nicely avoids many of my pet hates about the more common mods that people do.
Thanks for posting it - 'tis very inspiring!*

Thanks so much for your comments! I do try to do a lot more besides just paint a toy gun. Most of mine are actually molds pulled from generic squirt guns so they are solid resin, not plastic. (They feel nice and heavy in your hand too!)
The paint job - I was aiming for a hammered metal finish.
The additions - They're mostly genuinely old bits and bobs that I find at antique stores and swap meets. (But awh... I love aged futuristic mods too! Gotta give them some love. )
Anywhooo... thanks so much for your comment! I do enjoy it when people take the time to post thoughtful critique. Sorry it took me forever to get back to you. Between work deadlines and planning a wedding, my real life = crazy right now.

Cast from squirt guns... hmm...
What process do you use?
I have tried using plaster (only good if you're casting something soft and non porous really).... and have more success using silicone rubber thickened with 'thixo' and painted on.
I have much more success with this approach.

My exact process is a bit of a secret, really. But I will say that I tried something a little unusual and it works great for me. (Didn't do it on this specific one though... this is actually one of my eariest mods when I was still figuring things out.)
Thanks again!

Also, thanks for adding both of my ray guns to your favorites. There are more on the way.
