Description
A little random fanart for the old DS game SolatoRobo, which I have veeeeery slowly been making my way through. I've actually been really pleasantly surprised by the game and how much it packs in for an original DS title. It's not like, the world's most groundbreaking game or anything, but it's been good fun so far and very charming! The art style of the game, the story, and the setting give me some flashbacks back to like, early 2000s anime I watched as a kid. Like Digimon or Oban kinda stuff, so it feels kinda weirdly nostalgic. Though surprisingly none of the characters get on my nerves- usually those old properties have like, "that one annoying character" but SolatoRobo, imo, actually does pretty well with theirs. They're tropey of course, but in a fun way that, for me, manages to avoid some of the worst parts of the tropes. Also for some reason I just always enjoy pilot characters, and especially mech pilots, so having everybody be fun kinda junker pilots is alright in my book. Even if I really really suck at the flying sections. XDAlso I ended up kinda rushing this pic towards the end but I'm going on vacation and wanted to finish it before I left. XD

Yeah, I had kind of a lucky find and stumbled across it at a used game shop near my work for a reasonable price. It was still pricey, but cheaper than it is currently. XD And I think the company actually is making a new game currently, but it's in a slightly different genre. Same universe though with all the cat/dog folk.

I think the company is actually making a new game currently. But it's like, less of an adventure game and more of like... I thiiiink some type of strategy game? Still supposed to be set in the same universe though, iirc.

it's cool someone I follow is acknowledging the furry mecha game with the cool animated cutscenes, though I must confess that I never finished the game. I think I got the the end where the final boss is supposed to be but I never actually beat it. I hope you get to finish it, though! it's a pretty neat game that picks up at the second half
as for the art, your rendering is stellar as always! he definitely looks more like a hardened badass here, and I think I like that a lot more than how the games present him

And lol yeah, it's kind of a weird little niche game, but I've been pleasantly surprised by it so far. It may take me a while to finish it, as I've been kinda playing it in snippets between other games, but I'll finish it eventually. It always takes me forever to get through rpgs these days XD

solatorobo: red the hunter. it's a game for the DS and finding a copy may be a bit pricey. you're better off emulating it if you want to play it

I don't really remember. But basically there is an evil organization that you fight against while uncovering secrets about Red (MC's backstory) and the world they live in. He pilots a flying mecha that can be upgraded.
There are also a bunch of different quests (like in any other rpg) e.g. solving puzzles, participate in flying tournaments, find someone etc..
I can't really write much because I only remember important story elements and I don't want to spoil it for you.
I guess if you like anthropomorphic characters, complex character development and rpg games in general then you might enjoy Solatorobo
