Description

It is my second art style challenge, where Serena participates this time. I have drawn her in two main Pokemon anime art styles. I have omitted styles from later seasons prior to B&W due to negligible differences between Indigo League and B&W styles, and Pokemon Journeys style cause Serena would not look really different than she would look in Sun & Moon. Pokemon B&W art style is largely the same as XY.

Some comment about the styles:
Indigo League - This one is really edgy - Ash looks the most aggressive in this style and characters look like monsters when they are angry. This style is pretty good for Pokemon anime but a bit too harsh to me.

Sun & Moon - I know people dislike this style but I find it really cute. But I still do not accept introducing it to Pokemon cause it is mostly too mellow and rounded to fit to the plot where some situations are very perilous. Characters drawn in this art style look much younger, even Brock. I have found Lillie would look the most beautiful in this style before I would have seen in Pokemon Journeys where she looks much more lovely. However, Ash looked very twisted in Sun & Moon style and did not match his personality very well. Especially that he eventually won Pokemon League in this season. I find he should have win already in XY, where he truly looked like a bold and experienced Pokemon Trainer and he had Pokemon which should easily defeat his opponent. I like the style itself but I personally find it should be in some Pokemon spin-off for younger viewers or completely different anime, not the main series whose premise is not different than of previous seasons.

That is why Pokemon XY style is my favourite cause it is not too cute, nor too edgy. I find so the most mature ever as well and lighting looks so gorgeous. I understand people who find Indigo League style is the best but I think it is caused by fact it is very first style used in anime. I bet if XY style was used first then this one would be considered the best.

Serena waves hand in the Indigo League style cause it is energetic as she looks and Sun & Moon is cute to me that is why Serena gave a "shy girl" pose.

I know there is another different style in Pokemon Journeys but I had this idea in mind several months before Pokemon: Sword & Shield release. I could do then but I was dealing with more important tasks and I did not have time to finish it. Especially that LukasThadeuART drawn Serena in Sun & Moon style which discouraged me to draw my own version. He drawn Serena and other main characters absent in Sun & Moon amazingly faithfully to original. However, she has open mouth and I did not found any other good fan art where Serena is drawn in Sun & Moon style with my favourite outfit and hair. That is why eventually decided to draw Serena in this style. She may not look as good as LukasThadeuART 's but I hope I am wrong. I have used his drawing to model Serena in my work.

I know Serena currently looks different but I have chosen her old appearance because I find her prettier in long hair and red skirt. But she wears her signature ribbon she received from Ash.
